Moderator Biography

We're pleased to introduce our Moderator for the Ambition Debate as Professor Eleanor Shaw.

Currently Director of Research at the University of Strathclyde, Professor Shaw has previously held posts as Director of Master’s in Entrepreneurship at Durham Business School, and Director of the Honours Marketing Programme at Strathclyde.

Eleanor’s research interests concentrate on marketing and entrepreneurship, in particular entrepreneurial marketing and small firm networks, considering small creative firms as well as social enterprises and women-owned small firms.  The issues on which Eleanor's research has focused are relevant to developing theory, policy and practice about and in small and medium sized organisations

In addition to her academic work, Eleanor is a Director of Actif Solutions, a Newcastle-based research and training company, and is currently Principal Investigator of an ESRC-funded project exploring entrepreneurial philanthropy. Eleanor publishes in British Journal of  Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Business History, Environment and Planning C, European Journal of Marketing and International Small Business Journal.
