16th February 2012 12pm - 2.30pm With Tods Murray LLP
Following the success of our London Ambition Debate in November 2011, Independent Women are delighted to bring the Ambition Debate to Scotland in conjunction with Tods Murray LLP.
A panel discussion focussing on what ambition really looks like for women in 2012 – specifically in the context of the post 2008 financial chaos, the ensuing (and disappointing) lack of change in behaviour or attitude in many areas and the context of the Davies Report, looking at the question of getting more women on Boards.
Are we asking the right questions? Are we doing enough to ensure women are getting into positions of genuine influence – and what are those positions? Do women want them? If they do, are they getting them? Are we getting fixated on the issue of Corporate NED Board appointments and not sufficiently considering other issues? What are those issues?
The audience will be around 60 people (mostly but not exclusively women) and we want to have an interactive debate, aiming to:
1. Stimulate some fresh discussion about identifying what key people in Scotland(Public, Private & Third Sector and elsewhere) think about this as a question and look at areas where we need to do more;
2. Set up any relevant subsequent activity that arises from this discussion and foster and facilitate any agreed relevant action points; and
3. Afford the audience the opportunity to extend their network.
The aim of the event is to get a really good debate going between a stellar panel, who will have plenty to say on this issue, and a roomful of guests who are equally engaging.
The Debate itself will run along the lines of the BBC Question Time programme: Our panel will give their views and comments on a range of topics connected to the issue of what Ambition really looks like for women in 2012 (specifically in the context of the 2008 fallout and any re-thinking and re-calibrating that we may have done personally, professionally or both) and will answer questions and comments from the floor. The aim is to have the event as interactive and stimulating (and enjoyable) as possible
